ANO PRO 2019 / Greek composers works for organ and voice

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, the “ANO” International Organ Festival will hold its “ANO PRO” event, the prequel to the festival’s annual cycle of events. The preview will include a press conference and will present its program to the public and the journalists invited an early glimpse into the festival’s main events to be held August 19-25.

The compositions for voice and organ and the organ solos to be heard during this event have been written by Greek and Greek-born composers from the 17th to the 21st century and stem from the “Thomas Tamvakos” Archive of Greek Classical Composers. The composers whose work will be performed chronologically span almost all of the significant periods of music starting with the Baroque (Greco) and Romantic music periods and creatively reaching the 20th century and the present.

The rare compositions scheduled for the “ANO PRO” event will be performed by Christina Antoniadou, Organist and Music Director at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Athens; and Countertenor Nikos Spanatis. The renditions of works written for countertenor’s voice have been arranged by composer Panagiotis Theodossiou.
