The events of the 2nd “ANO” International Organ Festival held at St. George’s Cathedral in Ano Syros on August 20-26, 2018, met with unqualified success as the exceptional artistic level of each and every concert was in sync with the high standards set by the events’ organizers. Especially the concert planned within the framework of the Festival’s side-by-side events in the courtyard of the “Panagia tis Elpidas” Retreat of St. Vincent’s Daughters of Charity met with the heartwarming reception of the audience.
The photography exhibition “About Polska”, organized in tandem with the Embassy of Poland in Athens, proved an equally popular destination for visitors. Housed in St. George’s Cathedral’s courtyard, it remained open to the public throughout the “AΝΟ” Festival’s duration. The guided tours to the ecclesiastical organ within the cathedral and to the Ano Syros medieval settlement also attracted a large number of visitors for a second year in a row.
During the “AΝΟ” Festival, the following were honored by His Excellency Petros Stephanou, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syros, for their substantial and active support of the festival’s planned events: the Stavros Niarchos Foundation; the District of North Aegean; the Municipality of Syros in Hermoupolis; Mrs. Anna Barbarzak, the Ambassador of Poland in Athens; and Mr. Nikos Xydakis, former Deputy Minister of Culture.
