Sophia Papadimitropoulou

Soprano

Born in Athens, is an opera singer, performer and painter. From young age she attended piano & theoretical courses at the National Conservatory of Athens. She fulfilled her music studies in classical singing with the highest honors and first prize with the internationally renowned soprano Marina Krilovici. She also has a degree in superior music theory. She made her debut at G.Puccini’s “La Boheme” singing Musetta detaching dithyrambic reviews from critics and audience. She has collaborated with the Union of Greek Mysicians, with the most major Music Halls, theaters and orchestras of the country and many contemporary composers have dedicated compositions to her, singing their works on a worldwide first run. Her reperoire extends from Baroque to contemporary music emphasising to belcato music. She has perforemed numerous times contemporary compositions in world first performances. She has attended several master classes with international accomplished opera singers such as Cheryl Studer, Dimitri Kavrakos, Peter Svensson, Dimitri Platanias, Dafne Evangelatos, Christina Giannakopoulou etc.. From June 2014 she studies consistently repertoire with the famous soprano Dimitra Theodossiou and she has a permanent cooperation with the world wide distinguished pianist Sir Dimitris Yakas performing concerts in Greece and abroad. The year 2013 was one of the successful candidates in “opera studio” of the National Opera of Greece and, in 2014 she has been accepted and participated on the 38th International Singing Contest “Grand Prix Maria Callas”. She is a member of the organizing committee of the World Conference on “Symmetry in Science and the Arts” (ISSC Conference 2016). Press releases and dithyrambic reviews for her performances are written in the press by distinguished music critics, such as Nickos Dontas, Yiannis Svolos and Iliana Dimadi. Simultaneously with her musical studies, she has been active with acting and arial dancing.
She has been a member of theater workshops and theater companies having collaborated with important actors, directors and screenwriters of Greek theater. As a painter she has painted dozens of murals, paintings, props and costumes of professional troupes. In the past she has participated in several exhibitions in Greece and abroad as well as in Pan-hellenic competition winning major award. She has represented Greece in international exhibitions twice. Since 2014 is a permanent partner of the National Conservatory in Athens and in Annex of Thira- Santorini. She is also graduated from the National Kapodistian University of Athens department of classical Theology.
