Nikolaos Roussos

Choir teacher, choir director

He was born and still lives on the island of Syros, Greece. He is a graduate of the Ferekydi Cycladic Music School of Syros and the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens and he holds a degree in Accordion, Vocal, Harmony and Counterpoint. He has been working as a Music Teacher in Primary Education since 1995, and he has also taught in a conservatory, in MTENS Syros, in church organ training seminars, in training seminars of Cultural Associations and in Popular Education programs (NELE) of the former SE Cyclades. Since 1986 he’s participated in various music groups of traditional, Greek folk music and Greek art song. He also plays the organ and has accompanied many Catholic church services. He has participated for a number of years as a member of the Selection Committees of Primary School students to attend the Music School of Rhodes and has been a member of the Municipal Committee for the Ermoupolis Philharmonic for 3 years. He is a founding member of the Cyclades Orchestra and has been a member of the musical poetry groups “C.P. Cavafy” and “N. Gatsos” of the Cultural Association of Ano Syros since 2006. He also works with orchestrations and recordings, and he has many years of experience in computer technology, particularly in the field of music technology. He has attended a number of seminars related to choral conducting by renowned people in the space, such as A. Kontogeorgiou, G. Arabidis, N. Efthymiadis, M. Meligopoulou, F. Giannelou and others. Since 2016 he has been in charge of the Children – Youth Choir of the Orchestra of the Cyclades. He also teaches and directs other childrens’ choirs of Primary Schools, the Catechism Centers of the Diocese of Syros, as well as adult choirs.
