He is one of the leading figures of the international music scene and is considered one of the most important ambassadors of the pipe organ worldwide. At the age of 23, he was appointed titular organist of Notre-Dame in Paris, a symbolic position he holds to this day, while since 2012 he has held the title of Organist Emeritus of the Montreal Orchestra.
An artist with deep musical thought, an open mind and a unique skill in improvisation, Latry consistently and boldly explores all aspects of the organ art. He has appeared in the most important concert halls internationally – from the Berlin Philharmonie and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw to the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Royal Albert Hall in London – and has collaborated as a soloist with leading orchestras, under the direction of great conductors of our time. The French organ tradition holds a special place in his artistic career. His discography includes the historic complete recording of Olivier Messiaen’s organ work for Deutsche Grammophon, as well as important releases dedicated to Franck, Saint-Saëns, Bach and Liszt. Since 2019, he has collaborated with the La Dolce Volta label, presenting recordings of high artistic and sonic quality. Student of Gaston Litaize, Olivier Latry taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris until 2024 and has been honored with numerous international awards and honorary titles for his overall contribution to music.
