Born in the North of Berlin in 1972, Martina Reitmann took her first lessons in horn from Jürgen Runge at the music school of Potsdam. Once she had graduated from high school, she continued her musical studies with Professors Kurt Palm and Sebastian Weigle in the period 1991 – 1997. Apart from her tours with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra she has also performed solo at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and during a live concert on Deutschland funk Public Broadcastng Radio, with works by Hindemith and Beethoven written for horn and piano. As of 1997, she is Assistant Principal Horn Soloist for the German Radio Philharmonic. Apart from her engagement in the orchestra, she regularly plays music with a variety of chamber music ensembles.
