Ioanna-Vassiliki Koraki

Mezzo Soprano

Born in 1981, Ioanna Vassiliki Koraki began her piano studies at the age of 8, which she completed with Alla Chalapsi, earning a diploma graded ‘Excellent by unanimous decision – First prize and gold medal’. At the age of 13, she directed her first choir and took lessons in choir direction for 5 years at the National Conservatory. At 17, she began studying singing under Misa Ikeouchi-Kontogeorgiou, which she finished alongside Mechthild Stamataki, earning a diploma graded ‘Excellent by unanimous decision – First prize and gold medal’. She is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, and holds a Master of Arts in music performance graded ‘Excellent with distinction’. She has participated in the Budapest – Miskolc International Music Festival in Hungary (2004) and at the Klassitcheskoye Nasledie music festival in Moscow. She was honoured at the Canetti International Music Festival iin Hungary with the titel of Laureate and fourth prize in 2005. She has attended many seminars and masterclasses in Greece and abroad as a soloist and pianist (Christa Ludwig, Markus Ulmann, Rosanna Mauer, Igor Lazko, Julian Gallant, Robert Canetti, Paul Badura-Skoda). She is a founding member of the UIACX Ensem- ble, which specialises in experimental techniques and the interpretation of modern and electronic music. She has appeared as a soloist in many venues in Greece, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Russia, Serbia, Czech Republic, France, and the USA. She has worked with the ERT Choir and the Mixed Choir of the Municipality of Athens and is a permanent member of the Athens Festival Choir, the religious vocal group Musica Sacra, the Piraeus Harmony Choir, the Fons Musicalis and PPC choirs. She teaches singing and piano at the Synchrono Music School in Athens, the Nea Makri Music School, the Nikolaos Mantzaros Music School and the Neo-Classical Music School in Gerakas. In 2015, she founded the vocal group Cosmic Singers Ensemble.
