Oboe

Dimitrios Sideris was born in Athens, Greece and raised in the island of Corfu, Greece, where he took his first musical steps with Thomas Gisdakis, Spiros Varotsis and Maria Koyevina in piano, as his first music teachers. He holds certificates in Classical Harmonisation, Contra Punctus and Fuga. In 2007 he passes the exams for his Oboe Diploma from Giannis Papagiannis class with grade “Excellent Unanimously”. In 2009 he passes the exams for Orchestration under the teaching of Mr Spiros Prosoparis, with grade “Excellent Unanimously”. He has participated in several Oboe Masterclasses under the guidance and teaching of: Spiros Kontos, Giannis Papagiannis, Paul Dombrect as well as Nora Cismondi, Christian Schmitt, Sebastian Giot and Lorenzo Luciani. He was a member of the National Opera’sof Greece orchestra, the Athens Chamber Opera, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Munincipality of Athens, the Symphonic Orchestra of Modern Music of the Munincipality of Kifisia, the Symphonic Orchestra of Chalkida, the Orchestra ‘Academica’ of Athens as well as of multiple Chamber Music ensembles (Chamber Music Workclass of the Ethniko Conservatory of Athens, Arpeggi, Avra Anima etc). He has also attented Conducting Masterclasses with Phoebos Papadopoulos, Michalis Economou and Andreas Pylarinos whilst he has conducted the Symphonic Concert Bands of Thinalion of the Munincipality of Corfu, of the Munincipality of Ioannina, of the Munincipality of Loutraki, the Concert Band of Lixouri and the Philharmonic Society Of Corfu. He has cooperated with the Planitarium of Greece and a wide number of world famous singers ,like: Maria Farandouri, Marios Fragoulis, Deborah Myers, Andrew Halliday etc. He has been awarded by the Rotary Club of Corfu as the Best Student of the ‘Kapodistrias’ Symphonic Concert Band for the years 1998-1999 and by the UNESCO union of Peraius and Islands for his participation in the Greek mission for Woman’s Day in the UN,in NY, America. Since 2009, he is the Conductor of the Concert Band of the Munincipality of Andros. He is an active member of the Symphonic Concert Band of the Munincipality of Chalandri as solo Oboe and English Horn since 2010 and since 2016, a member of the world- famous composer Giannis Markopoulos’s orchestra, “Palintonos Armonia”. Meanwhile, he occupies himself as an orchestrator and an Oboe and Chamber Music teacher.
