Organ

Damian Skowroński, polish concert organist of young generation, born in 1993. He graduated with honours from the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, master’s degree in Church music (organ improvisation class – Michał Markuszewski PhD). He took part in Erasmus+ programme, during which he studied at Church Music Institute (Institut für Kirchenmusik) in Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin). After finishing the scholarship, he took up regular studies at the aforementioned University, where he studied the subject of Organ Improvisation in 2016-2019 (organ improvisation class – Prof. Wolfgang Seifen, organ class – Prof. Paolo Crivellaro). Holder of FCUM Rector’s Scholarship and President of Warsaw Scholarship. He took part in numerous master classes of performing organ music and organ improvisation led by such famous artists as: Helmut Deutsch, Julian Gembalski, Pierre Pincemaille, Peter Planyavsky, Lionel Rogg, Martin Schmeding and many others. Finalist of Nationwide Competition for Organ Improvisation during the 27th edition of Legnickie Conservatorium Organowe (Legnica, 2013). He also won 2nd prize at Intercollegiate Competition for Improvisation on Keyboard Instruments (Katowice, 2017). Currently he is employed as professor’s assistant at the Church Music Department in Frederic Chopin University of Music, where he teaches organ improvisation and liturgical accompaniment. He also works as organist at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Warsaw.
