Organ

Christos Paraskevopoulos was born in Athens. His musical studies began with his piano teacher Evangelia Chasapladaki. He graduated from the National Conservatory of Athens from the piano class of Pavlos Ventouras and Katy Trouli (1994) and the advanced theory class taught by Spiros Klapsis (1997), with a degree in counterpoint. He holds an LRSM for the church organ from the University of London, studying under the Athens Concert Hall organist Nicolas Kynaston. One of the few Greek organists, he has organised organ recitals in Athens and other Greek cities since 1991. From 1997, he has worked as an organist with the Lutheran Church of Christ in Athens, and, since 2012, has been artistic director for the same church. From 2017, he has worked with the State Orchestra of Athens as an organist. He has appeared at various venues and churches in Greece, Great Britain and Israel. His discography includes CDs with works for the church organ: ‘God our Refuge’ and ‘Christmas Melodies’. In 2008, he founded and has since managed the Musica Sacra choir. Apart from his appearances in concerts, he teaches organ at the Philippos Nakas and Nikolaos Mantzaros music schools. He has participated in two church organ festivals held at the Athens Concert Hall by Nicolas Kynaston. He is artistic director of the Greek section of the International Church Organ Festival Terra Sancta, which takes place at Saint Francis on Rhodes, and in 2017, he took over the artistic direction of the International Organ Festival ‘Ano’.
