Conductor, organist and musicologist Alois Koch led until 2008 the University of Music and the Church Music at the Jesuit Church Lucerne. As a professor and as a practicing musician he devoted himself especially to the spiritual music as well as the Swiss music of the 20th century. Numerous publications, radio recordings and CD productions document his scientific and artistic work. He was director of well-known Swiss ensembles, in the years 1991-1998 also the choir of St. Hedwig’s Cathedral and the cathedral chapel Berlin. Alois Koch was awarded the Art Prize of the City of Lucerne in 1998, the Recognition Award of the European Cultural Foundation in 2003, the Papal Gregorian Order in 2009 and 2018 the Orlando di Lasso Medaille.
