The “ANO” International Organ Festival will be ending its cycle of events for 2022 with an outstanding concert. To spread the joyful message of the holiday season to its audiences, the concert will focus on works by Handel, Bach, Mozart, and Kalomiris but also on ecclesiastical hymns as well as Christmas and New Year’s carols.
ANO Festival, and the concert’s performers Georgia Balabini (soprano), Magdalini Kalopana (organ), and the Children’s and Youth Choir of the Orchestra of the Cyclades, which will be directed by choral directors Nikos Roussos and Elli Gounari invite Syros residents and visitors alike to join them for the concert. Those who wish to do so will delight in not only the walk through the scenic alleys of Ano Syros brightly decorated for the holiday season but also the artful Nativity Scene lovingly created by the members of the St. George’s Cathedral’s parish. All are welcome to enjoy one more time an unforgettable Christmas experience.
The event is taking place within the framework of the SONIC Project. It is organized by the Syros Greek Catholic Association and funded by the Erasmus+ program. It is also taking place within the framework of the “Young Organists in Syros” project which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture & Sports that also funds it. The activities involved in both projects aim at raising awareness among the young over the ecclesiastical organ and its artistic value and at showcasing the creative evolution of our cultural heritage.
