Scheduled to be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” (Glory be to God in the highest) is the title of this year’s Christmas Concert that is part of the “ANO” International Organ Festival events.
Daphne Melanitou-Paraskeva, organist for the Cathedral of St. Dionysius the Aeropagite, Athens, together with Ioannis Karabetsos, 1st Trumpet, Athens State Orchestra, will perform works for organ and trumpet written by classical music’s most seminal composers. They will also perform popular, traditional Christmas carols of German, French, and English origin.
The festively decorated little houses of the medieval settlement and the soul-stirring Nativity scene on display at St. George’s Cathedral in Ano Syros are the perfect foil for this holiday concert which begins at 20:00 hours and will be open and free of charge to the public.
